I’d design a scent of remembrance. Someone I loved always wore the same perfume, but that scent no longer exists, as the perfume was reformulated and then discontinued. I still have a small bottle of hers that I spray sparingly when I want to feel close to her again. I know that eventually, there will come a time when it runs out and I’ll only be left with the memory. Recreating that scent into a laundry shampoo and conditioner, so I could literally immerse myself in those memories, would be a gift that carries meaning far beyond anything I could put into words. Maybe then, I wouldn’t have to guard those last drops, like Gollum with his precious.
Oh wow…there’s a task! As a Clinical Aromatherapist of over 30 years, I am overwhelmed with fragrance and find it hard to choose a favourite. However I find myself being drawn to blending and choosing oriental and spicy notes. Vertiver, Benzoin and Tonka Bean, hearts of Cedar-wood, Sandalwood, Damask Rose top nots of Bergamot and Basil and Petitgrain (vastly underrated). Frangipani, Tuberose and Jasmine when I can afford them, are something I love to indulge the fragrance of on their own rather than in a mix. Molton Brown used to do a lovely room scent called night tempest, no longer available. I wished I could re-create that! And I wear a scent from Liz Earl No 15 very similar oriental scent…Gorgeous.
But I do love Powderly scents too. I have been wearing Arpegé by Lanvin for the last 45 years!
I love Bergamot As My Fav essential oil .
However my Fav Perfume Right now has to be between Cardamon & Mimosa by Jo Malone and Not A Perfume by Juliette has a Gun . 💚

Definitely more of a summer scent, and I’m not sure what it translates to in English but in French we call it “Monoï de Tahiti”.

Would love to smell an invigorating scent such as eucalyptus as a base. Alternatively I have a fabulous diffuser with rhubarb and plum and it’s both fruity sweet and warm. Heavenly.
Some more “edible” scents would be perfect! Maybe a scent including berry accords or something herbal – like peppermint. A set or these could be called something like “5 o’clock” and feature scents inspired by teas and nibbles like strawberry shortcake, earl grey, peppermint tea, marmalade toast etc

As a fragrance head who does study perfumery and make his own blends. I would love to see a violet and tea inspired offering. I refer to a fragrance such as Gris Charnel by BDK. Notes in the top of Fig, Cardamom and black tea. Base Iris and Bourban vetiver and Base notes of Sandlewood and tonka 🙏

I would design a scent called ‘Vanilla Dusk’ – what I imagine a cotton sheet that has been drying under the sun all day and then brought into the house at dusk whilst I’m baking some sweet treat goodies smells like
Top notes would be orange zest and pink pepper, middle notes would be vanilla, peach and marshmallow and base notes would be tonka bean and caramel.

And I would make a chalky scent like Parma violet, or what I call sleepy milk 🍌🐄🤎(when you heat bananas in milk with cinnamon, it’s smells amazing, it’s nutritious and delicious and it makes a great natural sleep aid!) 🌚

For me it is black currant! Especially in a sweet but soft way, like blackcurrant coulis and cream 😍 that would be the absolute DREAM. I can see it, name in lights ✨Currant Affairs✨ 😂😂😂 because I would have an affair on my usual picks with this scent!
Spiced nights – orange and bergamot top notes with cloves, cinnamon, Jamaican pepper, jasmine, ylang-ylang and orchid at the heart with a base of
amber, vanilla, patchouli and benzoin. My idea of heaven- deep sensous warm fragrance that wraps you in its clutches

I absolutely love fresh scents, ones that smell like your skin but better or like you’ve just stepped out of the shower. I really loved Enigma. I’d design one with lots of musk or ISO E Super. Maybe something similar to Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt?

I love a delicate, yet sensually indulgent scent that’s pillowy soft and deeply comforting like cashmere and amber.
And a classic cotton and seasalt scent. Just like walking on a beautiful beach in the early evening glow, dressed in linen & cotton. The sea breeze carrying the woody musky tones of the drift and sandalwood and the sand dunes. 🌊
I’m not sure if it’s too late to comment on this but I would absolutely love to have a mimosa scented laundry products in memory of my mum, who absolutely loved the smell of them! Mimosa and wildflowers or Mimosa and oud for a nice floral and woody scent!
I would make the scent of the mountains (inspired by beautiful north wales) fresh air, oak & pine and wild flowers.
I love Myrrh and Tonka with the soft floral scent of lavender, hint of honey then the richness of Tonka with its almond and vanilla undertones just lush! I do love Molton Brown Blissful Templetree with its fresh orange, sensuous white flowers and warm patchouli when I use this in the shower my whole house smells wonderful. I wonder if adding sandalwood or sea salt with it would work as I love those smells too!

I love woody,oud and sandalwood scents. Penhailgon’s Halfeti and Halfeti Leather being a favourite and would love to have a range to complement those. Oud is really good but a stronger lasting scent these fragrances would be amazing.
These are scents that I love (I’ve always been drawn to soft, fresh, elegant perfumes like Chloe and I love anything sandalwood) and I thought I’d share a few ideas. I even played around with some names just to be creative – they might sound a bit silly, but they give a feel for what I imagine:
1. Velvet Lavender & Cashmere Musk – “Velour”
Lavender softened with iris and white tea, resting on sandalwood and cashmere musk. Cozy, chic, and modern.
2. Pear Blossom & Blonde Woods – “Lumine”
Juicy pear with neroli and peony, blended into jasmine, finished with blonde woods and soft amber. Light, fresh, and uplifting.
3. Green Fig & Violet Mist – “Celeste”
Green fig leaf and bergamot at the top, with violet and lily of the valley in the heart, and sandalwood underneath. Crisp, serene, and a little dreamy.
4. Citrus Blossom Veil – “Elysian Bloom”
Blood orange and petitgrain opening into neroli, orange blossom, and a touch of lavender, grounded by clean woods. Bright, joyful, and sunny.

Personally I’d love to have something Very Nature/Forest based. A Woodland Wonderland fragrance. A fragrance that when you close your eyes it reminds you of a Crisp Autumn Morning camping in a Forest, Scenes of the Morning Dew clinging to the trees, mist in the air, Mossy/Leafy undergrowth, the Earthy Loam underfoot, the Smell of the Trees and Sap around you. Maybe a hint of Coffee beans and Smoky notes of a fire for warmth. This would be my perfect fragrance.
I do love Cherry scents, my favorite perfume is one from cursed fragrances called pretty as poison, or love fest burning cherry.
I loved Enigma and I think that would smell gorgeous with Cherry.

My favourite smells are roes, sweet pea, freesia, patchouli oil, and the perfume I use daily ‘orb of night’ which is one of the ghost fragrances.
I also like the sound of a honey one to try. You have a summer scent and last year you made limited additions for Christmas, what about the other two seasons? Someone has suggested pumpkin latte for autumn, how about a spring one too, maybe spring flowers or rain?

One of my favourite scents is… Parma Violet… I know, very old fashioned but I love it!
Such a difficult choice if I’m being totally selfish and looking at a fragrance for myself only, I would choose a replication of Tom Ford’s Eau de Soleil Blanc for its vibrancy and aromatic crisp scent
Notes: Bergamot, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Pistachio, Amber and Cardamon
But if it was one that was to be suitable for everyone , then I would be looking for something that is fresh with the scent of the sea like the very popular Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel scent by Molton Brown.

A hard choice, but for me it would either be a cosy, autumn vibe to ease into the darker evenings with (with spice, vanilla, clary sage) or a brighter and fresher scent to look forward to Spring with (thinking violets and bluebells).

Lilac. For a couple of weeks a year our little lilac tree blooms and the scent is just beautiful. If that scent could be created for use all year round what a wonderful birthday present it would be 💜
