We’re developing some new fragrance concepts this week which got me looking back at some of the products we’ve created over the last few years. Not every idea became the bestseller I was very convinced it would… 😂 But every one taught us something! Here are 4 products we created that didn't work, and what we learnt from them.
1. Cocoa Butter Kisses
Every bit of market research told us that chocolate-scented laundry probably wouldn’t work...but you all loved the concept, so we decided to take the risk. What I learned is sometimes you have to take a risk and challenge the market research, and sometimes the market research might actually be worth listening to 😂

2. Candy Beach
It started strong and the fragrance itself had such lovely feedback – but the branding didn’t communicate the scent as clearly as it needed to. I learnt that creating a great fragrance is only half the job. The name, packaging and story around it can be just as important as the product itself.

3. Bahama Vibes
Coconut is familiar, summer-y and already loved in laundry - What could go wrong? 😂What I learnt is that familiarity can make a product easy to understand but being different is often what makes it memorable!
4. When Life Gives You Lemons
When we first released the concept, you loved the fragrance, the colour, the name - so we got to work bringing it to life! But bright, citrus-heavy fragrances can be more technically challenging when it comes to achieving the strength and longevity we expect in laundry. We loved the scent, but we wanted more longevity!

Bahama vibes was what made me start buying your products I miss the summer smell, summer fling just isn’t a good replacement, would love you to bring bahama vibes back..

I love when life gives you lemons. The only thing is that the scent that is in the bottle doesn’t translate to the clothes. Very faint smell. However, I do applaud you and your amazing team for putting yourselves out there and try different scents. 💖💖

I just cannot see why you got rid of candy beach. Change the packaging, change the name or whatever to revamp it but don’t pretend that Aurora smells like it, it’s nothing like it and nowhere near as nice. Candy beach for me is the strongest of the scents, the nicest and I miss it so much. Why can’t you bring these back for maybe 6 months at a time, if you don’t want to bring it back for good (even though soooooo many people have said they want it back)? Maybe time to start to really listen to customers now?
And please whilst we’re at it, can you do away with EVRI, or at least give your loyal customers another option. I’d be willing to pay a bit more for use of a different courier, because frankly they are terrible and I have zero clue why you use them.

Absolutely loved Candy Beach, it’s been my overall favourite and I swear the fragrance lasts longer than any other one.
