Our new best-smelling, but worst-selling!

Our new best-smelling, but worst-selling!

Help us re-name this product!

In November we launched ‘Candy Beach’. It was meant to be our Flagship product. Our signature brand-coloured bottle and scent. But it quickly became our worst seller! 😂

The fragrance inside Candy Beach is absolutely gorgeous, and the bottle is arguably our most aesthetic. The fragrance is a unique blend of Vanilla, Dragonfruit and Musk… but the product just hasn’t caught on!

Do we need a new name? And does anyone have any good ideas? Or is there something else that’s holding back people trying the product? Let us know what you think before we go back to the beginning on this one!

Would love to hear from you 💜

With love and encouragement, here’s my thoughts:

The first thing you see on the website doesn’t show Candy Beach in either of the photos. It also falls very low on the lists whenever you’re shopping. There aren’t any refills to be found (but maybe that’s because you haven’t sold enough?) It’s also not in the Discovery set either for some reason?

And if you launched it once but then skyrocketed your audience after, they missed out on that announcement ya know? I found you in December, got a discovery pack, and no Candy Beach in sight. Seems odd for what is supposed to be your best/signature scent. But my point is, newcomers won’t know what your signature scent is if you’re not telling them or showing them on a regular basis. Make it obvious!

The name is also an issue (as everyone in the IG comments has mentioned) but I think it’s mostly a marketing issue. Yeah you’ll get people who are turned off by the “sweet” label but then again the ones who like that will jump on it (but only if they know it exists).

Have you guys ever looked into recreating your scents on paper? Give us a scratch and sniff card or make all the packaging smell like the scent you’re promoting.

Why not throw in some samples with this month’s orders? Or maybe do a giveaway? Possibly offer incentives for Candy Beach lovers to do a review or testimonials? Maybe a UGC creator can throw something together for you. At least this way you can get the scent in people’s noses and get rid of the candy beach bottles before you rename it.

Phew. Anyway thanks for listening. I hope it helps. I love you guys and want you to succeed. And thanks for being so transparent. As a self-employed woman, it’s so reassuring to watch a brand pivot and learn and still be successful. Thanks for being so inspiring 💖

Good luck with candy beach!

I haven’t smelled it , but yes, the name put me off. It sounds frighteningly sweet, I wouldn’t like to associate candy shop with my laundry. The colour of the bottle though I love.
Maybe send some samples out and rename .
« Copacabana » comes to mind after reading the list of scents. :)

Candy Beach evokes a sense of adolescence and for me misses the mark of a premium household item.

Opting for something that is more sophisticated and focuses on the vanilla and earthy side to it could create that sense of luxury a flagship product should have.

How did I miss this?! I love everything lychee and have ordered the sample pack but I don’t think this comes with it. So now I have quickly bought some before you decide to discontinue. 🥺

I haven’t tried this but scent for me is very important and there is no option to trial this scent. So it’s unlikely I would order because I wouldn’t want the waste of full bottles detergent and conditioner if I decided I didn’t like the scent so it puts me off buying. The samples are really handy in trialling what you love and what doesn’t work for you (some of the scents I cannot stop sniffing my laundry!) but when they are not available I would be dissuaded trying new scents. Appreciate availability of samples may be a result of the decision on manufacturing runs, but they seems to be hit and miss if they are available when I order full size – I’d be unlikely to order samples on their own due to it being less sustainable and the additional packaging it would generate. I hope this is useful!
