We’re developing some new fragrance concepts this week which got me looking back at some of the products we’ve created over the last few years. Not every idea became the bestseller I was very convinced it would… 😂 But every one taught us something! Here are 4 products we created that didn't work, and what we learnt from them.
1. Cocoa Butter Kisses
Every bit of market research told us that chocolate-scented laundry probably wouldn’t work...but you all loved the concept, so we decided to take the risk. What I learned is sometimes you have to take a risk and challenge the market research, and sometimes the market research might actually be worth listening to 😂

2. Candy Beach
It started strong and the fragrance itself had such lovely feedback – but the branding didn’t communicate the scent as clearly as it needed to. I learnt that creating a great fragrance is only half the job. The name, packaging and story around it can be just as important as the product itself.

3. Bahama Vibes
Coconut is familiar, summer-y and already loved in laundry - What could go wrong? 😂What I learnt is that familiarity can make a product easy to understand but being different is often what makes it memorable!
4. When Life Gives You Lemons
When we first released the concept, you loved the fragrance, the colour, the name - so we got to work bringing it to life! But bright, citrus-heavy fragrances can be more technically challenging when it comes to achieving the strength and longevity we expect in laundry. We loved the scent, but we wanted more longevity!

Reading all these comments, I’m sad I didn’t ever try some of these discontinued scents! But while I’m here, another vote for bringing back Country Club – abbbbbbsolutely incredible fragrance. 🥰🤩

You’re wrong. Candy Beach does work. I’ve tried all scents and still think that Candy Beach is the best in the most beautiful lilac bottle.

I bought your tester set and was really excited to try everything. But I used all the shampoo and conditioners and was really disappointed to be honest. There wasn’t much of a scent at all 😞

Oh no- and life gives you lemons! It’s all the fruit ones! You said the spring/pear set included pears- I can’t smell the fruit- florals are overtaking your scent range.

I’m gutted Bahamia has gone. I’ve also started uses cocoa and it’s beautiful- I’m fed up of the same Floral scents and same old same old laundry stuff – it’s making my asthma flair! Coconut doesn’t do that. I may need to find another brand else if you’re doing the same old stuff in every bottle. Where’s the fruit? Where’s the vibes?? I thought you were different.
