My mother. divorced in her 30s, then started her life again, studied and got a degree in performing arts, started a career as a folk singer, bought a house and brought up me and my brother all by herself as a single mum. So strong! Makes me proud to know there’s women like that in the world

Women should be celebrated and respected always, but this day signifies that we are united and that we are equal, that we deserve to be seen and valued for our input in the society, be that at home, in the workplace or out in community. It is so empowering to see women achieve success and celebrate success of others! That is why when I see women owned businesses I am always inclined to support, as it starts a positive chain reaction and has a much wider impact down the line. Tallow & Ash is just one inspiring success story born out of passion and desire to do better and it is lovely to see.

My 81 year old Mam is the most amazing woman I’ve ever known. I’ve recently split up with my husband. Right from the start she has had me living with her showering me with love and support. She does all my washing, tidying and feeding me all without a moan. She never stops either, along with her 78 year old sister, she volunteers at the food bank, she’s heavily involved with her church and church friends, she cleans the church building after doing a girls club for 7- 13 year olds. After a recent diagnosis of osteoarthritis she has had to stop being a street Pastor, going out on a weekend to Newcastle from 10pm to 4am supporting revellers and the homeless. All with love and compassion, she would do anything for my brother, Sister and I, but even more for her grandson, 3 granddaughters and great Granddaughter. We love you so much Mam. You’re the most inspirational woman I know xx

My mum, who lost her own mum at a young age but who has been the best friend and role model a girl could ask for 💕
